Nature Connections Location
@ Stillwater Stables Education Centre

Address: 5219 Russell Road, Ottawa, Ontario, K0A 1K0
We are thrilled about our location at Stillwater Stables! We have permission to build shelters, plant vegetable gardens and food forests, and have camp fires. Your children will be able to interact and experiment more intimately with the land - which is essential in building lifelong connections.

Medical & Consent Forms

Please bring your child's signed Medical & Consent form with you on their first day! Forms include emergency contacts and important information which we require for the safety of your child. If your child has already participated with us before, please make sure that none of their information has changed since they first started with us. If you are having trouble downloading or filling out the form, please come a few minutes early and we will have extra copies on hand.

Parking @ Stillwater Stables

You are welcome to park in the U-shaped drive at Stillwater Stables. Please pull to the side of the driveway so that other cars may pass by.

Bathrooms

We teach children how to "take care of business" outdoors - meaning peeing behind a tree or well-covered bush. That said, there is a bathroom inside the front room of the stables to the right for us to use. If you'd like to use it, check that the latch at the top of the door is open, and close it after you leave to ensure the cats don't walk all over the toilet.

Animals

At Stillwater Stables, there are plenty of animals around. There are horses, bunnies to pet (with permission), friendly barn cats that may jump into your car, and lots of wildlife - if you're lucky enough to spot them!

While You Wait

Hang out with the animals. Take a riding lesson. Enjoy the picnic area and upcycled playground (coming soon). Tour the interpretive boardwalk through the unique arctic ecosystem at Mer Bleue bog (Directions, 7 min). Or do some shopping on Innes Road (Apple Saddlery, PetSmart, Costco, Rona, Home Sense, Home Depot, etc) (Directions, 9 min).

Payment

For your convenience, we accept payment online or in person by cash or cheque. If you have not already done so, we are happy to accept payment before class starts online, or on your child's first day by cash or by cheque made out to Nature Connections. Just let us know which method you prefer. If you have already sent this in, thank you!

Contact During Programming

IMPORTANT: We DO NOT have internet access during programming, so if you need to reach us urgently please:
  • Telephone us and/or send us a text at 613-413-8277,  or...
  • Radio us with the Walkie-Talkie in the front room of the stables. We are on channel 4, for adult use only.
It is important to us to be 100% present with our students, so if we do not answer your call right away we will answer it as soon as we can. And of course, now you know where to find us!
