Special Edition 8 week Class Series:
Adventures in Plant Craft!
Fridays, 1-4pm
Ages 9-12
|
In a one-time special edition class this spring, we will be teaming up with herbalist Amber Westfall from The Wild Garden to offer a truly unique 8 week class all about PLANTS!
We will take a closer look at identifying and using the wild plants our ancestors would have harvested for food, medicine, and plant craft - including essential bushcraft skills like cordage, weaving, natural dyes, and more. Children will be introduced to botany, plant identification and the safe uses of common plants, with games, lessons, and plenty of participatory, hands-on activities in store. |
Story Setting: Adventures in Plant Craft
In this one-time 8 week session we will learn all about plants! Amber and Brittany are still working on the immersive story concept for this class, and will release a teaser to you soon. What we can tell you is we will meet new and memorable characters with plenty of adventure, mystery, and nature lore in store. As with every Nature Connections unique story-based class series, this one promises to be a blast!
Is your child interested in meeting new friends and trying new things while learning wilderness skills to last them a lifetime? Are they up for the challenge of working with friends to problem solve using the skills they've learned to achieve their goals - occasionally in a race against time? We'd love to write them into our story! Equal spaces for adventurous girls and inquisitive boys are available. All experience levels are welcome. Curiosity is required.
*Disclaimer: your child will get dirty, learn to use tools, think critically, ask questions, learn to manage risk, make new friends, and have fun. Our original stories and game challenges are supplemental to our wilderness skills classes, with our main focus being hands-on skills and learning. Many of our activities include practice in life and social skills such as: leadership development, team building, problem solving, effective communication, goal setting, working in groups, and more.
